About Basil
Basil Wood Fired Pizza is a family-owned pizzeria run by owner Wesley Sumner. We make Italian-style artisan pies in a wood-fired oven. Wesley has spent years learning the craft, going to pizza conventions and importing premium ingredients straight from Italy, down to the salt. Every pie gets a balanced sauce and an authentically charred wood-fired crust, and the dough takes three days to make.
We spent time set up in Johnson City. After losing our home in the Hurricane Helene flood, this community helped keep us going. Now we've reopened in our own brick-and-mortar spot on N Main Ave in Erwin, and we're grateful to every neighbor who made it possible.
